A Leading Alliance for Adaptive Gaming

Our Mission

ReSpawn Foundation unites hospitals, clinicians, gamers with disabilities, and tech innovators in a national alliance to make adaptive gaming a recognized standard in rehabilitation — combining clinical expertise with lived experience to reshape recovery through play.

When Standard Controls No Longer Work

A spinal cord injury. A stroke. Muscular dystrophy. These conditions can make it difficult or impossible to use a standard game controller.

The desire to play doesn’t disappear. But the ability to interact with the game does.

Without support, many players are forced to give up something that once brought them joy, identity, and connection.

ReSpawn Foundation exists to change that.

What is Adaptive Gaming?

Adaptive gaming makes it possible for people with physical disabilities to play video games, especially when standard controllers don’t work.

For someone with a spinal cord injury, stroke, ALS, or muscular dystrophy, using a typical controller may be painful or impossible. Adaptive gaming uses customized setups like switches, joysticks, or specialized controllers to help people play on their own terms.

It’s not about different games.
It’s about enabling access to the same games, with the right tools.
